Chesterfield is largely bordered by two rivers which define miles of its boundaries. The major adjoining cities each originated at the head of navigation of these river, called the fall line. 3.5 Acres RAW LAND off East River Ln Tax Map 20 A 59 (Matthews County)

Google-PROPERTY MAP

Description: This 3.5 Acre property is located off of East River Lane near the town of Matthews. The property is just outside Newport News in Matthews County Virginia. This is a stunning wooded nearly level lot within walking distance to tributaries of Mobjack Bay. This lot is perfect for building on or keeping as an investment.  You will be able to enjoy the bay and rivers, and the scenic views surrounding this community.

Mathews County is located in the Chesapeake Bay region of Virginia, on the eastern tip of the Middle Peninsuala. The second smallest county in Virginia, Mathews features more than 200 miles of shoreline! It is bordered by the Chesapeake Bay, Mobjack Bay and the Piankatank River. One of the highlights of Mathews County is the New Point Comfort Lighthouse, which marks the entrance to Mobjack Bay.

In 1791, Brigadier General Thomas Mathews, then speaker of the House of Delegates of the General Assembly of Virginia, introduced a resolution calling for the formation of a new county consisting of the Kingston Parish of Gloucester County. Because of his support of the resolution, the new county was named for him. The County was divided from Gloucester on May 1, 1791. Mathews celebrated its Bicentennial in 1991. The Mathews County seal was adopted on February 11, 1793 and symbolizes the shipbuilding industry, which was of major importance to the economy of the County.

The Continental Navy built many of its ships in Mathews during the American Revolution. Many historic homes erected in the 18th Century have been well-kept and are still in use, including Woodstock, Providence and Green Plains. Captain Sally Tompkins, the only female confederate officer, was a resident of Mathews County. The county is also known as the daffodil center of the Middle Peninsula and the annual fall festival of the courthouse square, Market Days, draws visitors from across Virginia.

The county has remained relatively undeveloped, retaining the slow-paced, friendly charm of a country community. We recognize the need for planning so the beauty and bounty of the county can be enjoyed by future generations to come. The Board of Supervisors has given the highest priority to the orderly and controlled economic development of the county. Mathews County still does not have any traffic signal lights.

Bethel Beach Natural Area Preserve is a sandy spit of low dunes and salt marsh habitat separating the eastern side of Winter Harbor in Mathews County from the Chesapeake Bay. Winds and water move sand creating an ever changing habitat on the narrow beach, apparently to the liking of the Northeastern Beach Tiger Beetle, an endangered and Federally protected insect that thrives in these sands. Scan the beach and offshore bay waters, tidal lagoons, salt marsh, shrubby swamp, and deeper channels during any season to discover over 185 species of birds, including 25 species of shorebirds, that have been sited here.

The third oldest lighthouse on the Bay, New Point Comfort Lighthouse was commissioned in 1804 by Thomas Jefferson. The 55-foot octagonal sandstone lighthouse sits on an island, separated from the mainland by the Hurricane of 1933. View by boat or from the New Point Comfort Preserve Observation Walkway.

Whether you’re a country music fan or just want to spend an evening with down-home-hootin’-hollerin’-toe-tappin’-hand-clappin’ fun, you won’t want to miss Donk’s–Virginia’s Lil Ole Opry. Lively country music shows every other Saturday night, often featuring Mathews’ own country music star, Lynda Smith.

Richmond County is a county located on the Northern Neck in the Commonwealth of Virginia. As of 2010, the population was 9,254. Its county seat is Warsaw. The rural county should not be confused with the large city and state capital Richmond, Virginia, which is over an hour’s drive away.

Warsaw is the county seat of Richmond County.  The original name of the town was Richmond Courthouse. In 1831 the town’s name was changed to Warsaw, after the news of the bloody Battle of Warsaw reached local residents. A number of other small towns in the United States changed their names to Warsaw at this time (Warsaw, Kentucky for instance), all as a result of sympathy in the United States for the November Uprising in Poland. Because Richmond Courthouse was still unincorporated in 1830, it is unclear who was responsible for the change of name to Warsaw. A former plantation estate Belle Mount is currently operated as a vineyard and winery within a few miles of Warsaw town limits.

In addition to Menokin, Mounty Airy, and Sabine Hall, Grove Mount and the Richmond County Courthouse are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The formerly listed Bladensfield was dIn 2004 the Menokin Bluegrass Festival was launched in Richmond County at the ruins of Francis Lightfoot Lee’s (a signer of the Declaration of Independence) ancestral home, Menokin (later changed to Menokin Music Festival). The festival attracts thousands of music fans every year in a celebration of the Northern Neck’s historical legacy.estroyed by fire in 1996.

The Rappahannock River Valley National Wildlife Refuge is a National Wildlife Refuge located along the Rappahannock River near Warsaw, Virginia; one of four refuges that comprise the Eastern Virginia Rivers National Wildlife Refuge Complex, it was established under the jurisdiction of the United States Fish and Wildlife Service in 1996. As of 2008, the Refuge consisted of 8,191 acres of property total. It consists of numerous non-contiguous units along the Rappahannock River in King George, Caroline, Essex, Westmoreland, and Richmond counties.

Enjoy handcrafted, premium wines of classic styles and unforgettable tastes. Discover the scenic vistas and spectacular winery setting on Virginia’s Northern Neck. Rich in history the Belle Mount Plantation was originally settled in 1707 when Joseph Belfield retired from the British Navy with a land grant from the king of England. This historic site was once home to the Rappahannock Indians who lived along the shoreline here on Cat Point Creek and Menokin Bay. George Washington’s Birthplace, Stratford Hall and Historic Christ Church, the Northern Neck offers a tapestry of history that unfolds around every turn of the byways.

Whelan’s Marina is located halfway between Warsaw and Kilmarnock just off of Route 3 on Hales Point Road in Farnham, Virginia on the beautiful Rappahannock River. Lee County is a county located in the U.S. Commonwealth of Virginia. As of the 2010 census, the population was 25,587. Its county seat is Jonesville. Lee County is the westernmost county in Virginia.

The first Europeans to enter what is present-day Lee County were a party of Spanish explorers in 1540, sent by Hernando de Soto, in search of gold.

The county was formed in 1793 from Russell County. It was named for Light Horse Harry Lee, the Governor of Virginia from 1791 to 1794, who was known as “Light Horse Harry” for his exploits as a leader of light troops in the American Revolutionary War. He was the father of the Confederate General Robert E. Lee. The days surrounding its founding was a tough time for Americans and Native Americans. Lee County was the final front on the Kentucky Trace this has become known as the Wilderness Road and The Trail of the Lonesome Pine. During the 1780s and 90s Forts or Stations were put into place to aid in protecting travelers seeking to follow in Daniel Boone’s footsteps to the new Kentucky Territory. Stations (or Forts) during that time were: Far Eastern Lee County Yoakcum Station, present day Dryden, Va, westward to Powell Riaver and Station Creek Rocky Station, then to Mump’s Fort present day Jonesville, Va, Prist Station, Chadwell Station present day Chawell Gap, Va, Martin’s Station present day Rose Hill, Va, Owen Station present day Ewing, Va, then lastly Gibson Station which still holds its name.

Among the largest early landowners in the county was Revolutionary War officer and explorer Joseph Martin, for whom Martin’s Station and Martin’s Creek at Rose Hill are named, and who was awarded some 25,000 acres (100 km2) in the county, which he later sold. Martin was among the earliest explorers of the region.

In 1814, parts of Lee County, Russell County, and Washington County were combined to form Scott County. In 1856, parts of Lee County, Russell County, and Scott County were combined to form Wise County, Virginia.

Part of Lee County is located within the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park.  The park is located where Virginia, Kentucky, and Tennessee meet.  Accordingly, portions of the park are in all three states.  The park is big (containing over 20,000 acres) and stunningly beautiful, offering numerous attractions.  These attractions include The Pinnacle Overlook, The Gap Cave, Hensley Settlement, Wilderness Road Campground, and almost 70 miles of hiking trails.  The Cumberland Gap is one of the most significant gaps or passes in the eastern United States

Charlotte County was formed from neighboring Lunenburg County in 1764 and named for Queen Charlotte, wife of George III of England. Settlement of this new frontier began approximately 50 years before the county was formed.

Charlotte County was the second governing body in the 13 colonies to declare its independence from England. As the American revolutionary spirit unfolded, these people of newly acquired wealth and influence played important roles in the formation of the government. Its militia units helped to halt the advance of Cornwallis in 1781 and to hasten the end of the American Revolution. Tarleton’s raiders passed through Charlotte County. Lafayette’s units camped near Charlotte Court House and George Washington stopped here on his trip south after the Revolution. Distinguished people throughout the entire country trace their ancestry to Charlotte County families.

People of national importance have lived in Charlotte County. It was briefly the home of the signer of the Declaration of Independence, George Walton, later of Georgia. Patrick Henry, born in Hanover County, came to Charlotte in 1795 and is buried at Red Hill, a national shrine. John Randolph, who represented Virginia in both houses of the US Congress between 1799 and 1825, lived and was buried at his home, Roanoke Plantation. Charlotte Court House was the scene of a famous debate on states’ rights between Henry and Randolph.

8.9 Acres RAW LAND on Boydton Plank Rd Tax Map 48-64 (Brunswick County)

Google-PROPERTY MAP

Description: This 8.9 Acre property is located on Boydton Plank Rd in the South Hill area. The property is just outside Petersburg and South Boston in Brunswick County Virginia. A beautiful heavily wooded and nearly level lot with road frontage. This would be perfect for building your dream home or keeping as an investment.

The first recorded foray by the colonists into what is now Brunswick County occurred in 1650. Explorers left Fort Henry (Petersburg) to follow the Occoneeche trail on an expedition for trading with the Indians to the south. By 1714 the area was known well enough that it was selected by Governor Alexander Spotswood as the site of Fort Christanna, a trading depot and school for Indian children.

The first English settlers in Brunswick County swarmed into the lands near Fort Christanna during its 4 years of operation (1714–1718). Brunswick County was established in 1720 from Prince George County. In 1732 the county received more land from parts of Surry and Isle of Wight counties. Brunswick County stretched all the way to the Blue Ridge until 1745, when a series of new counties was formed and the current western border established. In 1780 Greensville County was formed from part of Brunswick’s eastern side and in 1787 the county’s eastern border was finalized with a minor adjustment.

The county is named for the former Duchy of Brunswick-Lunenburg in Germany, because one of the titles carried by Britain’s Hanoverian kings was Duke of Brunswick-Lunenburg.

Today Brunswick County is bisected by Interstate 85, U.S. 1 and U.S. Highway 58. Originally cultivated for tobacco by slave labor in colonial times, its mostly rural economy was diversified for lumber and other mixed farm crops before the American Civil War. Cotton is grown in the far south.

The small Saint Paul’s College, Virginia is located in the county, as well as a campus of Southside Virginia Community College. The Fort Pickett Army National Guard base is partly in the county.

The town now is engaged in a beautification project which involves replacing downtown sidewalks with brick and installing new streetlights. The new Albertis S. Harrison, Jr., Courthouse housing Brunswick’s Circuit, General District, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations courts was dedicated on 18 April 1999.

Like Golfing? The Lake Gaston Golf Club offers some of the finest golf recreation in Southside Virginia. Located 17 miles from both I-95 and I-85 in Gasburg Virginia, the course offers an exceptional variety of holes that include wide open fairways, to challenging narrow “chutes”, to spectacular plateaus overlooking beautiful crystal clear lakes and ponds.

Outdoor enthusiasts can head over to, Lake Rawlings located in Rawlings, Brunswick County. Located 2-1/2 miles from Exit 39, I-85, it is an ideal destination for weekend and day divers, or for divers who are traveling on or near I-85, I-95 or I-64. Lake Rawlings is a privately-owned scuba & camping park open to the public in the state of Virginia. The park features very clear lake water for scuba diving and snorkeling. Other attractions include a Nomad 22 airplane at 60′, open cockpit boats, automobiles, an end-of-road display (barrier, mailbox, street/directional sign and car), two school busses (one at 30′), a cabin cruiser, fishing boat at 60′ and the sailboat shell used in the underwater scene of the Warner Brothers movie, “The Replacements”. Lake Rawlings, staffed by friendly and courteous professionals, is a fun place to visit.

Visit the nearby South Boston Speedway it has been hosting races for 50 years with drivers from all over the United States.  It has earned the reputation of being the best NASCAR sanctioned short track racing in the country.  The track is only a 4/10 mile oval, but gives the same experience of larger tracks.  Most races are held on Saturday and are fun for all who come to partake.

1.29 Acres RAW LAND on Agnes Ln Tax Map 62-22A (Floyd County)

Google-PROPERTY MAP

Description: This 1.29 Acre lot is located on State-Maintained Rt 769 just outside of the Town of Willis in Floyd County.  It is a beautiful location that would make a great home site.  The lot is very level and mostly cleared in the front with nice woods in the back half.  This lot has a peaceful country setting with easy access with Highway 221 just a couple miles away.

Floyd County is a unique and growing community with 31 miles of scenic Blue Ridge Parkway along its eastern boundary, located in Southwestern Virginia. Floyd is largely rural-agricultural as far as setting, but has many of the services that “city folks” enjoy: professional and technological services, banking and finance, small business and industry, with fine eateries and the best in music and craft.

Floyd is within easy driving distance from Roanoke, Christiansburg, Blacksburg and Virginia Tech. Many of our citizens make their home in the natural beauty of Floyd County and keep a little distance from the “hustle and bustle” of the college towns.

For the lover of outdoor recreation, all of Floyd’s rivers and streams originate within its borders. Some waters flow north to the New River, by way of the Little River, or east to the Roanoke River. There is much water to explore, to canoe and fish. Small ponds, creeks and streams abound throughout the county. Hunting (deer, turkey, grouse, squirrels and more) and hiking the county’s many trails are other favorite pastimes.
