Kerr Lake is officially named John H. Kerr Reservoir, and it is located along the border of North Carolina and Virginia. It was created by the John H. Kerr Dam, which took from 1947 to 1952 to complete. It now produces electricity and is used to provide flood control for the area. Among man of its unique traits, it is also the biggest reservoir in the state of Virginia and is located in parts of Halifax, Mecklenburg and Charlotte counties in Virginia and Warren, Vance and Granville counties in North Carolina.
It is owned and operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers. At its maximum capacity, it is one of the largest reservoirs in the Southeastern United States. The lake has over 850 miles of shoreline and covers approximately 50,000 acres (200 km²). The lake is named for Congressman John H. Kerr of North Carolina, who supported the original creation of the lake.

The Clarksville Regional Museum serves as a depository for the collection and preservation of items which are historically significant to the past, present, and the future heritage of the Clarksville region. The museum includes a Tobacco room, a Buffalo Lithia Springs room, a typical sewing room, and a newly designed military room. The museum has on display a collection of arrow heads and antique agricultural implements and a miniature of Clarksville in the 1950′s donated to the museum by a local Train Club.
